Australian water-saving specialist WaterGroup is licensing an IoT integration platform from Reekoh in a multi-year deal.
Reekoh’s IoT platform will be available for use within WaterGroup’s range of smart metering and water-saving services, helping to deliver further cost and water savings, faster installation and IoT interoperability to its smart water metering customers.
This is a move that WaterGroup claims will help tackle a major issue facing non-residential water users in Australia: the loss through leakages of 200 billion litres of water annually. Water conservation is a hot topic in Australia, many regions of which once again face the threat of drought.
Great strides
Through the agreement, WaterGroup says it will build on previous water and cost-saving successes. Over the past 12 months, the company claims it has helped customers achieve water savings of almost 300 million litres and cost savings of over $1 million.
Said Guenter Hauber-Davidson, managing director of WaterGroup: “We are confident in predicting [that] Reekoh will play key part in achieving the next $1 million in water savings for our existing and future clients.”
The two companies are already working together on two projects: one with Waverley Council in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, and another with Coffs Harbour Council in the mid north coast region of New South Wales.
The partners say they are helping these councils to improve the way they collect water usage data, reducing the likelihood of water leaks and damage to water networks and delivering greater efficiency and savings.
“With Reekoh’s interoperability capabilities, it’s easier for our clients to integrate data with their own existing sustainability reporting, workflow and facility management systems – and to realise savings in both water and money,” Hauber-Davidson said.

Seamless interoperability
The Reekoh platform, according to its Brisbane-based developers, enables seamless interoperability between connected devices and enterprise platforms, services, business systems and processes. In other words, its main focus is integrating IoT applications to enterprise applications.
