The Ski Robot Challenge saw robotics teams compete for a $10,000 prize. To enter, ski-bots had to be more than 50cm tall, stand on two legs, have elbow and knee joints, and an independent power system – and be able to use skis like their human counterparts, said Reuters.

Each robot was equipped with sensors to detect the red and blue flags as they raced downhill.
