GE Digital has signed new strategic IIoT partnerships with Oracle and Deutsche Telekom to make it easier for companies to digitally connect their industrial assets across the globe.
Both deals were announced yesterday, with Oracle saying that its partnership with GE will see them “develop and integrate complementary solutions across their product portfolios.”
“GE Digital brings its Predix offering that combines cutting-edge technology and decades of industry experience into a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) targeted to securely ingest machine-grade data at scale and analyzes it to deliver outcomes –fast,” reads the press release confirming the news. “The Predix platform is purpose-built for developing, deploying, operating and monetizing Industrial Internet applications.
“Oracle’s enterprise solutions, including its Oracle Cloud Platform, Oracle Cloud Applications and ERP and Supply Chain Management applications, can use the information from Industrial Internet devices to help automate and optimize business processes, enable better asset visibility, more efficient supply chains, intelligent manufacturing, predictive maintenance and service, and improve logistics and transportation efficiency.”

IIoT in the field and factory floors
The announcement goes onto say that GE’s operational technology and Oracle’s enterprise solutions will be integrated into one optimized view so that customers get an end-to-end look at all their assets, irrespective if they’re on the field or on the factory floor.
With these integrated solutions, customers will be able to connect any machine or sensor to any other machine or business application to also create disruptive and innovative products and services.
Customers will leverage these solutions to maximize the benefits of the convergence of Operational Technologies (OT) with Information Technologies (IT) in driving business outcomes such as operational efficiencies, cost to quality reduction and enhanced customer experiences.

GE Digital and Oracle will bring their large partner ecosystems together to train, certify and implement powered by Predix solutions with Oracle’s Cloud offerings, technology software and business applications.

GE and DT sign IIoT deal
In related news, and on the same day, Deutsche Telekom established a similar IIoT partnership with GE Digital.
The partnership centres around Predix, GE Digital’s cloud platform for industrial data and data analysis, to which Deutsche Telekom will add connectivity, IT and security capabilities.
DT will begin working with GE Digital, a subsidiary of American industrial company General Electric, this summer.
Ruh was speaking at Smart IoT London two weeks ago where he detailed GE’s move to become a services company through IIoT and cloud, as well as the firm’s Predix platform.
