Taiwanese chip designer MediaTek has announced three new chipsets to power new media, wearables, Internet of Things (IoT) command centres and Blu-Ray players.
The firm’s new MT2523 chip is low power, and supports Bluetooth and GPS connectivity; allowing it to connect to wearables and maintain long battery life with a small design.
The MT7697 IoT Bridge chip is designed to connect IoT devices in the home. This chipset supports Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE), and dual-band Wi-Fi which will allow users to manage all IoT devices in their home.
The M8581 chipset processes CDs, DVDs and Blu-Ray disks, and supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) which allows high resolution viewing up to 4K UHD; which supports many audio and video codecs.
The chip designer announced the new range of products at CES 2016 in Las Vegas, where the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are expected to feature heavily.
